  • Yes, a volunteer cannot:

    1. Be an employee of the institution

    2. Be listed on a resident's visitation list

    3. Have a sex offense in criminal history* Note: Every case is different and contingent upon KPMI approval.

  • Yes. A volunteer assignment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of:

    1. Volunteer Application

    2. Criminal and driving record check

    3. Fingerprinting

    4. Personal character references

    5. Face-to-face interview

    6. Agreement of confidentiality and release of liability

    7. Comprehensive new volunteer orientation

    8. Job-specific training

    9. Volunteer Training Manual

    Note: Renewal required every 2 years with TJJD

  • There are six team meetings in preparation for each 2-1/2 day Weekend.  They are typically 6 hours each and occur every other Saturday from 9 am - 3 pm leading up to the Weekend.

    1. One-to-one, following Torch curriculum

    2. Duration typically 1-4 months

    3. 1-1/2 hours per week

    4. Saturday morning, typically 8:30 - 10:00
